Karen Ghostlaw Pomarico is an internationally exhibited and published photographer,

multidisciplinary artist, curator, editor, and arts advocate whose work explores identity, perception, memory, reflection, and humanity’s relationship with the environments we inhabit. Through photography, installation, mixed media, and alternative photographic processes, she creates visually layered narratives that invite deeper engagement with contemporary life.

A graduate of Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Photography and Fine Arts, Karen has cultivated a distinctive artistic practice spanning more than four decades. Central to her work is an ongoing investigation into the space between photography and painting, exploring photography not only as a documentary medium but as a vehicle for creating meaningful contemporary art. Her studies include the archaeology of reflection through landscapes, city streetscapes, and self portraiture, where layered environments become spaces for discovery, transformation, and human connection.

Karen is a Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). She is Editorial Director of The Pictorial List, an international women-led photography magazine dedicated to visual storytelling, and Co Founder, Vice President, and Gallery Director of the Pictorial Foundation, a women-led not for profit arts organization supporting artists through exhibitions, publications, educational initiatives, and cultural exchange.

Through her artwork, curatorial projects, and leadership, Karen continues to create opportunities for artists while building connections between art, community, and culture.
