Ruth Wetzel uses photography to bring viewers an intimate look at poolscapes. The Pool Noir photographs celebrate bodies in water and their aliveness, noting their vulnerability in water and darkness. The Flower Float series focuses on spatial distortions and painterly light interplaying with flowers. Ruth’s recent solo shows include Davis-Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY and The Arsenal Gallery at Central Park. Ruth has received fellowships from Baer Art Center, Iceland, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Women’s Studio Workshop and New York State Council on the Arts.
